facWEEKLY March 21
We hope you've had a good week, FAC Family! Here are just some of the great things happening in the coming weeks.
Worship This Sunday
Practices of the Way | What’s on Your Mind? | Psalm 1
Have you ever thought about what you’re thinking about? An important discipline is being able to spend time in thought, even deep thought. Join us this Sunday as we continue our message series centered on Spiritual Disciplines. During this season of Lent, may our hearts, minds, and hands turn towards the disciplines that draw us closer to God, grow us deeper in our beliefs, and give us a richer faith to practice.
Women 2 Women Bible Study
Date: Tuesdays, beginning April 1
Time: 9:30–11:30am
Place: in room B106
Join our women’s group as we begin a 6-session video study, featuring popular theologian N.T. Wright, called “Jesus: The New Way”.
Jesus challenged the expectations of the Jews who were looking for a different sort of messiah. This study provides insight into the worldview of Jesus' day and the deeper significance of his words and actions.
No homework required. Register by clicking the button below or visiting the table in the lobby.
WPA Advancing Missions Conference
Date: Saturday, April 5
Time: 9am–3pm
Place: in the Youth Center
Cost: $15 (includes lunch)
We are hosting the Western PA District Advancing Missions event with fellow WPA leaders, mission mobilizers, and mission committee members. This event is designed to help you take your church's missions engagement to the next level and spread the gospel worldwide.
Get ready to be inspired by captivating stories from our International Workers, engage in meaningful discussions, and join in prayer sessions. Don't miss out on this incredible chance to grow and make a difference!
Register for the event by clicking the button below.
facWORSHIP Team Application
Interested in serving in the worship ministry? Fill out our facWORSHIP Team Application form and let us know a little more about yourself, why you would like to join the worship ministry, and what positions you are interested in serving in. You can find the link to the form along with additional details about our ministry at facerie.org/facworship or by visiting the table in the church lobby.
HOPE Ministry: Specialized Classes
Date: Sunday, March 30
Time: 12:30–2pm
Place: in room F203
HOPE Ministry provides English classes to refugees and immigrants in Erie, which allows us the opportunity to love our neighbors as Jesus would and meet their needs. We're starting some specialized classes to meet the needs of the students and are looking for volunteers to help assist in those classes. We plan to start a sewing class, a driving permit class, and a citizenship prep class. You only need to love Jesus, love people, and speak English to volunteer–no experts needed!
If you're interested in helping in any of these classes, join us for lunch on Sunday, March 30th, after services in room F203.
For more information contact Amy McCullough at amccullough@facerie.org
Pastor's Prayer Partners
Every Sunday morning, we have a team of prayer warriors that meets before and during each service. They pray over the worship service: for the pastor, the worship team, the tech team, and the congregation. They pray over the classes and groups that are meeting, the volunteers who are serving, the ministry leaders, and the church staff. In addition, they pray for the many ministries and activities that take place during the week, and they pray for the needs of our church family. Some sit in the prayer room for the entirety of their time spent praying, while others pray while walking through the building. You get to do what feels comfortable for you.
Does this sound like something you'd like to be a part of? The commitment is only about one hour of your time once a month, and you get to choose which service works better for you (before/during the 9:30 service or the 11:00 service).
You can sign up to join the team by clicking on the link below or by stopping at the table in the lobby. If you have any questions, please reach out to Andy Boncella at andrewboncella@gmail.com or call the church office at 814-833-9862.
Volunteer Opportunities Available
FAC's First Impressions ministry is seeking friendly volunteers to serve alongside our already amazing team! This team consists of greeters, ushers, coffee and snack team, The Hub/Welcome Desk, attendance counters, pew ministry, security, and parking team.
Joining the First Impressions team is a rewarding experience because not only are you serving others, the church, and the Lord, but it's a great way to get to know more people and make lasting connections.
If you are interested in learning more about the many volunteer opportunities available, please stop by the table in the lobby on Sunday mornings or contact Kim Palmer in the church office at 814-833-9862 or email firstimpressions@facerie.org.
Prayer for International Workers Rob & Barbara Quiring
Rob and Barbara Quiring are international workers supported by FAC. They served for many years in Ecuador and are now located in Nebraska. Pray for our adult son, David, that he would rediscover Jesus and His grace. We were delighted with a recent visit, but we have heavy hearts as parents.
You can learn more about them by picking up a copy of our “Prayer Guide for World Missions” near The Hub and you can partner with Rob & Barb in ministry by giving to the FAC Missions Fund.
Do You Have a Prayer Request or Praise?
"Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere" (Ephesians 6:18, NLT).
The staff and elders at FAC would love to pray for you. Send your request or praise to Pastor Scott through the form below.
